Summer in the dye garden.
Creating a dye garden has been a huge learning experience and there are definitely some things that I will be doing a little differently going forwards, however, what a successful crop of dye plants this year has delivered! The dye garden has provided 3 harvests of Woad, beautiful Dahlias, Calendulas, Marigolds and an abundance of Dyers Chamomile!
There is still some Dyers Weld growing away which will need to be harvested before the first frost - this has led to a little bit of learning on drying flowers and storing them for future use.
The hope is, that by next summer I will be able to grow the majority (if not all!) of the plants that are used in the dyeing process and also dry some to be used in the winter months so that the production of naturally dyed textiles and the delivery of natural dye workshops can continue all year round.
